Lugoff, South Carolina is located in Kershaw County. Lugoff is in a rural area that is sparsely populated. The town was named after Count Lugoff, who was instrumental in bringing the Seaboard Air Line Railway to the Lugoff area in 1899. This Russian engineer brought many Russians to work on the railroad construction. The town is southwest of Camden and west of the Wateree River and is home to the Invista Plant, which was formerly the DuPont plant. Although small, this town is known for its hospitality. Today approximately 7,500 people call Lugoff home.

Lugoff rural settings provide many agricultural and outdoor amenities. Ingredients from local farmers are used in the Gorget Distilling Company, a craft small-batch distillery. Tours are available to visitors and they will also offer you a tasting of some of their spirits. Not too far from Lugoff, the Sesquicentennial State Park provides visitors with a place to camp, boat, fish and hike There is a 30-acre lake perfect for bass fishing, kayaking, canoeing or paddle boating. Bird watching is also a fun way to spend some time at the park. If you enjoy fresh produce, the Kershaw County Farmers Market features vendors from all over Kershaw County. Whether its produce, handmade products or meat, you will find a large variety of items at the farmers market. People from all over come to buy and sell, and you will see gardeners, soap-makers, coffee roasters and carpenters providing their products. If you love animals, you’ll want to check out the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden about half an hour from Lugoff. The zoo has more than 2,000 different species, but the most popular so far is the giraffe exhibit, where you are given the opportunity to feed a giraffe right out of your own hand.

Lugoff real estate is as diverse as the residents. You will find renovated modular homes, ranch style homes, older two-story homes in both brick and wood siding, and newer homes in the newer developed areas. The variety of people from different cultures make this an interesting place, with excellent schools as part of the Kershaw County School District.
